SimonV Posted August 12 Share #1 Posted August 12 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am considering trading in a sizeable chunk of my gear for the Q3, and while I have the Q 116 and am pretty well up to date on what the Q3 can do, I would wish for it to be my all-in-one camera for most use cases, so I'm intrigued by the Leica Looks for when I want JPG files without the need to adjust DNGs. I have the Sony A7RV for demanding stuff and longer lenses, but the Q3 would be the camera that goes everywhere. The Q 116 is great and gives great results, but is limited in some ways. But after having it for a short while, I really like the feel, quality, size and fluidity of use of it. I'm still on the fence about keeping it or trading it in for the Q3 as well. While I enjoy editing RAW files when I have time to sit down, especially while traveling the Leica Looks on the Q3 would make it the ultimate do-it-all camera for when I want fast JPG transfers without having to edit. That is, if the looks are worth anything. From the few images I've been able to find online, the color looks all seem to have potential, but I've seen so few that it's hard to form a clear opinion, especially since everyone might not mention what looks they've used to take a photo. The Greg Williams look looks good too but is easier to judge from a few shots. I've scoured the web for any Leica Looks shots I can find, but they seem few and far between. I would love to see any shots you have taken with the color looks on the Q3 to help me form a decision on the Q3.
Advertisement Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Hi SimonV, Take a look here Leica Looks on the Q3, good enough for part time JPG shooting?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
F-train Posted August 12 Share #2 Posted August 12 There is really only one way for this: take your SD card to the dealer, do some shots with a Q3 both jpeg and dng. Take the card home and have a look.

Take the card home and have a look. Unfortunately there are no dealers in my country or near me that have the Q3 you can try, only online shopping. I'd like to believe that this forum would be the best place to look for people who have used the Q3 and the Leica Looks, unless they are indeed not that useful, which is also fine, but at least I'd know. My favorites are Eterna and Chrome. Apart from this, B&W High Contrast (part of standard looks) is stunning for some use cases. I will try post a few samples if I can get through the forum rules for image size. Edited August 12 by ravinj
Tarekith Posted August 12 Share #5 Posted August 12 Download the Leica Lux app for your phone and get a month subscription for $7. That will give you all the same Leica looks that come with the Q3 to play with and see for yourself.

Most cameras with profiles don't really manage to make anything look realistic but just tend to do things like add green and lift the shadows. This actually makes me think of film, something that 99% of picture styles don't. Thanks!

The subject material in my opinion plays a huge part in selling the look too. I know it sounds weird.
