Spir4L Posted July 28 Share #1 Posted July 28 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I am a Leica T user since 10 years ago and I have only used it with the T 23mm f2 ASPH lens that I bought it with, and the visoflex EVF. I also own a M lens adapter that I bought initially but never really used. I want to buy some new lenses to try and shoot with different focal lengths and I am also considering to upgrade my T body to a TL2 (if I manage to find one at the right price), because I feel the 16mp will soon feel too little. I mostly shoot in the streets and on my holidays. Looking at the future, and since the Leica APS/C line has been discontinued I am thinking I would rather buy L-mount lenses that I will be able to use in the future with a different body or a different manufacturer (full frame or aps/c depending of what the market will offer in the future), rather than expand my T/TL lens collection. This makes me thing that the Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN could be a good first lens to pick and use with my current Leica T body. Has anyone tried it? With the same reasoning I would be tempted in selling my TL 23mm F2 lens and replacing it with a Sigma 24mm F2 DG DN, or the F3.5. Would I be able to use AF with the sigma lenses? I could also consider to get some voightlander M-mount lenses (manual focus) to finally use my adapter. Any suggestion on lenses that match well with the T/TL system? The 40mm 1.4 nokton seems well rated with the T/TL from what I saw. Edited July 28 by Spir4L
Advertisement Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Hi Spir4L, Take a look here Sigma 35mm f2 contemporary with Leica T/TL2 (and other questions). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tommonego@gmail.com Posted July 28 Share #2 Posted July 28 (edited) I have the 40mm Nokton f1.4, it came with an M8 I bought. It is my least used lens on my CL, the most used is the 11-23, I have 2 35mm M mount, a 35 f1.4 Summilux pre asph and a Zeiss C-Biogon f2.8, just a fantastic lens. I do have a Chinese 55mm, a decent lens, but I'll use a 50 Summicron M and a 50 Canon FDf1.4 first, these all come before the 40 which admittedly is a good lens, I just like 35 and 50/55 framing better. I would look at the Voigtlander 35s before the 40, if you don't mind f2.8 go for the 35 Zeiss C-Biogon, one of the best M 35mm lenses there is. mpauliks Posted July 28 Share #3 Posted July 28 Take care about lens-body compatibility of Sigma lenses with first T model bodies. Here is Sigma´s list of supported Leica APS-C bodies: https://www.sigma-global.com/en/support/camera-compatibility/?maker=leica&type=mirrorless_aps-c and lenses. Summary myself did upgrade from Leica T to TL2 because of this.

Stuart Richardson Posted July 28 Share #5 Posted July 28 I can confirm that in my case at least, the Sigma 24mm 3.5 was sharper than the 23mm f2. It was not a lens I was every particularly happy with, but maybe I just got a bad copy. I liked the color and macroscopic look but it was always just a bit soft and blurry in the details such that it just looked like a cheap lens, even on 16mp. That said, the 24mm 3.5, though small on a full size body, did seem large on the T. The M lenses match the T much better, but then of course you have to focus manually. If that is not a barrier, then I would probably go in that direction.
