Hello,

I have a new M11 (Gloss Black Paint) and cannot connect it to my Fotos App. I have already connected my M11-D, M10-R, M10 MONOCHROM and M10-D to the app without a hitch. The app simply gets stuck at the "Discovering" screen and times out when I try and add it. I have:

  • Deleted the M11 from iPhone Bluetooth list
  • Deleted the App and reloaded - then spent ages reconnecting all my cameras.
  • Reset the camera - in every possible way
  • Checked it's on the latest firmware and the iPhone is up to date as well.
  • Tried with the cable connected and not conencted
  • Tried on an iPad - that also failed.

None have worked. Any ideas for my next connection adventure. I live in Tokyo and my Japanese isn't good enough to have a technical discussion with the service staff here, so this is my next try.

Thanks

David

You described the problem clearly.

So I would copy the text, put it in Deeple.com and translate it into Japanese.

Print it or show the text on your phone and I am sure the Japanese store understands the problem and can help you.

I found that shutting the Leica Fotos app down and then re-opening it enabled me to connect my M11 to the app.  This is using an iPhone 15 pro max.  I had previously found it impossible to connect.

I got it to connect after I had a chat (in English) with the very helpful young assistant at the Leica store in the Ginza Six mall and we tried connecting my phone with the M11 he had on display there.  I had previously spent many frustrating hours like Runny above.

make sure you are not connected to any wifi network when you try and add it

To my experience that has no influence. As a matter of fact you have to have WLAN switched on anyway.

But who knows. The described problem is very strange.

I did not say turn WLAN off! I said do not have it connected rot a network. If you have networks set to auto connect it will give you grief has been my experienced

Prior to the current version of Fotos (as of August 23, 2025), I was able to connect my M11 and M10-R to both my iPhone 12Pro Max and my iPad Pro. Now neither connects. I’ve tried deleting my M11 from the iPhone and adding it back in. It gets added in, but doesn’t connect. It says connecting, lists the camera, then warns the iPhone may not connect to the Internet, continues to say it is connecting until it gives up and says it is disconnected. Very frustrating!!!

It used to work sporadically and I could download photos and for the M11 geotag my photos with my iPhone GPS; although, the connection would frequently break and I would need to haul the iPhone out of my pocket and reconnect them.

I feel your pain. Isn't it great we can still take great photos without the NEED for telephone assistance?  For me it's just another distraction I can live without.  About the only thing you can do, if it's important to you, is keep trying.  Format your card, delete and reinstall FOTOS, try again.  Also make sure your camera battery is fully charged.
