Advertisement Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Hi jc_braconi, Take a look here Focorapid and Telyt 280mm/4.8 v3. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Robert_M Posted July 4 Share #22 Posted July 4 9 hours ago, luigi bertolotti said: Interesting, thanks ! So, if I understand right, the original problem arises from both the details I evidenced in post #10 : the (removable) ring and interference with the 14112 adapter... just a further curiosity (I haven't the 14112) .. after the modification of 14112, is is still mandatory to remove the ring ? Incidentally... how is the quality of the Rayqual adapter ? I think it has, of course, the flange to flange length of Viso II/III : I have the Novoflex LEM/VIS (V1 - single tube) and is the first time I see a similar device from another vendor. I have been using the adapter with the lens head ring removed. However, on closer inspection, I realize that the upper (green) machined area of the modified adapter has enlarged the opening to 51mm diameter to allow the lenshead ring to be left in place. In fact, the depth of that machined area puts the lens head at the exact distance for the focal registration distance. I've attached a picture of the lenshead on the adapter this way and one can see that the lenshead is 1mm short of the stop at the lower end of the adapter. BTW, I should really not call that lower machined area as "inside threads". In fact they are fine baffle ridges for the optics of the adapter to avoid reflections. Using the adapter without the lenshead ring allows more engagement of the threads of the adapter so is probably safer for the use. And, the focorapid does have an adjustable infinity stop to let the user setup the infinity correctly. It is just 1mm that is being adjusted for. I believe that I purchased the Rayquel adapter from Gandy's Camerquest site years ago. I looked for the Novoflex v1 adapter for a long time but could only find the availability of the v2 adapter. The Rayquel adapter is of similar quality to Novoflex adapters (I have some other Novoflex adapters). It is also similarly high priced. It is not a cheaply made adapter. I would not hesitate to recommend Rayquel unit. Welcome, dear visitor! jbockste Posted July 4 Author Share #23 Posted July 4 Dear Robert_M and Luigi, Regarding the focal distance with the Focorapid, I have already found out that this combination alone is too short. I have in the meantime tried out a combination with another extension tube (which also did not totally fit) but Robert's modification of the 14112 (G) adapter is the perfect solution - many thanks for this extremely helpful input! Obviously, all open questions around this combination are now solved - including the hole in the removable ring ;-))) By the way, my v3 focusing unit also has a hand-engraved number at its inner end (in my case "61") - this was also discussed in the 15 years old thread Luigi has contributed to. Best regards and many thanks again for your extremely valuable Inputs, Johannes
Robert_M Posted July 4 Share #24 Posted July 4 You would need an extension tube of about 25-27mm. There are m mount extension tubes of 10mm. Leica part 16469Y. The Novoflex LEM/VIS v2 set is 4 components (instead of 1) where most of the pieces are 10mm LM/LM spacers. But this approach is clumsy and heavier than needed. After all this focorapid discussion, I should say that I find the Televid solution with the 280/4.8 v3 head the better solution. But it involves using the very hard to find adapter (14138) for the 280/4.8 head to the Televid.
jbockste Posted July 6 Author Share #25 Posted July 6 Dear Robert_M, I very much appreciate your replies and recommendations - many, many thanks! However, the Televit-M obviously has become very rare on the used market in Europe. I guess those still existing Televits are all sitting in the shelves or at the camera mounts of this forum's members ;-))) Thus, I will (for the moment) further proceed with the Focorapid and use the adapter(s). Best regards, Johannes
