Lens Combo - Leica vs Voigtlander or a single lens

Hey!

I own these lenses for my M : Voigt 21 F3.4, 28 elmarit, 35 summilux "classic" (steel rim reissue), 50 lux (the non close focus one) and 90 elmarit.

Most of the time I take the 35 and the 90 (for all my journalistic / documentary work).

For light travel I take 28 + 50. But most of the time I also take my 35, and use it most of the time.

If you are keen on 28 then a 28/50 combo is a good one to cover a lot of bases. There is no reason to stump up for Leica glass if the budget is tight. Voigtlander make excellent lenses and you can always ‘upgrade’ in the future when you have a little more experience in what you like/dislike. Used, you can pick up two very capable lenses and start shooting for around  €1k.

One thing to ask / note:  Are you taking pictures of people (i.e. whole body or upper body) or just their face? I don't think a lot of beginners realize that "portrait" literally means portrait. A 35mm or even 28mm is fine for taking pictures of people. You just can't get close to them to take a shot of only their face without a rude amount of distortion.

Ti parlo da possessore di una M10P. La prima lente Leica che ho acquistato è stata il Summicron 28mm f2 asph a cui ho accostato il Voigtlander Nokton 50mm f1,2. Combinazione perfette che mi consente di fare tutto. Successivamente ho sostituito il Voigtlander con il Summilux 50mm f1,4 asph, che è fantastico ma devo dire che il rapporto qualità prezzo del Voigtlander Nokton non ha eguali. Condivido con chi ti ha suggerito di acquistare le lenti vecchie Leica mentre le nuove Voigtlander, perché sono convinto che la differenza di rendering sulle ottiche moderne sia impercettibile, invece con le lenti pre-asph si nota la differenza.
