Interested in your comment about the R to L adapter. Definitely expensive. The M to L adapter has the sensor to read the lens bar code which is good but I’m wondering what, if anything, the R to L adapter offers?

R2L offers the readout of aperture and lens information, but no digital aperture control. That of course only works with R lenses providing that interface (contacts).

I think the Novoflex R2M adapter is sufficient. IIRC it is even coded as an R adapter.

I just found a used one, not too expensive and in perfect condition. I was a little worried about its weight, but I don't find it that heavy (with a Peak Design harness across my shoulder). The mechanism is wonderfully smooth. As for the image, what a luscious picture! It's sharp without distortion, but with plenty of presence. I'm thrilled.

First pix yesterday in Bénodet, Brittany, France (SL2-S + ISO 800 + f4 + rainy weather).

Just a test shot.  However, I find it astonishing how consistently round the bokeh remains right to the edge of the frame. And that's with a zoom lens. In this case, a 90mm f/4.

Thanks for this.  The 24-90 isn’t listed as a compatible - is the bayonet attachment the same?

Mine has a crack in it from when it was knocked over on a low tripod by an enthusiastic toddler. The hood tool the brunt of the impact and the lens was unharmed. I used a bit of glue to stabilise the crack, but I'm happy for it to retain its battle scars. A smaller one might allow more peripheral light in - prettiness is not a priority in comparison to shading and protection.

Yes, a small spot of glue is the cheapest and best option.  I would like something smaller, though.
