To prevent it: 1: Typically a battery should reach 80% in two hours, and 100% in four hours. An old battery might require longer, To prevent an old battery overheat the charger, stop charging after four hours, leave it whatever the % , or take a break of 20min or so before recharge it. 2: To charge multiple batteries, give it a cool down break of 20min or so. 3: if a battery does not reach 80% after several tries, let it RIP.
