I have just  gotten a lens so I can now test my new to me Digilux 3 purchased a month ago. I am struggling with its operation. I have a Sigma 30mm f1.4 lens on it and an 8GB SD card. The camera powers up. The lens autofocus does not work, but there appear to be large problems. I can take a photo but when I select "play" there is no photo to display Also, when I press the "play" button or several others, the shutter goes off. Is this an indicator that the electronics are bad or that I am doing something wrong? Help! Thanks.

Alan.

To add to the confusion, when no SD card is inserted, the camera functions fine. I can take a photo and review it on the screen. Is there a restriction as to what type or size of SD is usable?

8Gb cards are reported to be the largest that the Digilux 3 can use. Cards of this size are pretty hand to find these days, but I was able to buy some from Kingston Memory about a year ago. They were only available in the form of the company's industrial grade cards. These are still listed on the company's website, and are about £10 each.

That news has really 'made my day'. Enjoy using your Digilux 3! It may not be a 'classic' Leica camera, but it was a good one in its day. I had a Digilux 1 - a wretched device - and used a Digilux 2 (which could only use 2Gb cards) as my working camera back in the days when I was the editor of a techical magazine. I really liked the Digilux 3, which became my main camera until the arrival of the M8.2. If you need some 4Gb cards, send me your snail mail address in a private message.
