On my old Q2M I had a soft release button from Lolumina, but they no longer seem to exist. So I have designed a little button and 3D printed a sample. Can anyone think of a reason why this wouldn't work, or make a better suggestion? Or better yet, know how to get a real Lolumina soft release button? This is just a sample. I'll print the actual button in solid black PLA (I don't have any black PETG).

Here it is just sitting on the shutter button.

Unless you are looking for something very close to the "Lolumina" version, here is an option. I ordered it from Alibaba. US $2.80 including tariff. Excellent machining and finish. Ordered a bunch of Q accessories, all very well made including a thumb grip for $8. How "they" do it at this price, I don't know, but am a very satisfied customer.

You only have to drill and tap the shutter release button.

It will after that also accept the real deal cable release!

And while you’re at it, also thread the collar on the release button, you can use your cable release from your Barnack Leica’s.

Fordfanjp, how do you attach the Lulomina to the release?

The Lolumina soft release uses double sticky tape to hold it to the top of the shutter button.

The Q2 shutter button is not threaded so it can't use this type of soft release.

Here is my advice.  Don't attach anything to the Q2 release button.  It is not designed for that.  A friend of mine wanted a soft attachment so he bought one that he could stick to the shutter release.  It stuck up maybe 2 mm or so, if that.  It worked until it broke the Q2 shutter release right off.  While the button is pretty large, underneath what you see it is attached to a very thin plastic stem that goes into the camera to actuate the release. Kind of like a mushroom,  That stem broke.  Looking at a mighty large repair bill, he asked me if I could maybe figure out something.  I cleaned both ends a bit and used a good epoxy to put a very, very little dab on the shaft, put the shutter release back and held it down with some tape until the epoxy set well.  That seemed to work fine for weeks, but then he tried it again and it broke again.  this time it was harder to get it to stick and the first time I used a bit too much epoxy so it glued the shutter down.  Broke that off and fixed it again.  Been about 8 months now and it is still working.   NO Soft release.

It is not designed to take that kind of sideways stress.  I think with the soft release sticking up it could be hit sideways easier when putting the camera in and out of a bag or case. and snap it off, where w/o the soft release the profile is low enough it will not hit things sideways.  Or maybe even just pushing the button down slightly off center.  And I see someone said you could tap the release to accept a screw in soft release.  Let me tell you the stem under the shutter release is maybe 1mm in diameter of plastic.  Good luck drilling/tapping into that.  Actually there is not that much luck in the world.   I think just the act of drilling would shear that shaft.

Really want a soft release?????   Buy a Q3.  Hopefully it is designed to be much tougher so it will not break off.
