Just a thought, but looking at the image of the camera with the back open, it does not look to me that the problem is necessarily to do with the light seal around the window, but could be a problem with light leaking in around the hinge.  I suggest you examine that carefully with a magnifying glass.  Try tape over the window anyway, but shine a strong light on the hinge to check if that is the source of the leak.

I appreciate it.  I can’t see any leaks around the hinge.  I’m shooting another roll now with the inspection window covered—i hope that will do the trick.  Thanks for your advice.

Back when Leica USA used to send one of their repair staff out to its dealers for an annual clean'n'check day, the repair guy would routinely peel off the light seals around the film reminder window of any R camera presented, and install new ones. As others have said, it's a problem of long standing.
