So far, I have preferred to compose panoramas with Autopano Pro from Kolor (the company was closed in 2018). I found the results to be the best for my needs. PT Gui Pro or Panoramastudio 4 don't come along with any frequency worth mentioning. Adobe Lightroom or Capture One are fine, but fail after a few images.

My licensed version ran smoothly under Mac OS (most recently M1 Ultra), albeit slowly because of Rosetta, until last week. I didn't do any system updates! And then there were problems:

  • Starting in the middle of last week, the software suddenly crashed the first time I put it together. I couldn't get it to run.
  • Even on older Intel Macs (installed or reinstalled). A new installation (from the old DMG) did not work on the M1 Ultra.
  • In a virtual machine (VMware Fusion, Windows 10, Intel Mac), the Windows version of Gigapano (also from Kolor, freeware) could be installed, but then crashed every time after loading the images.

I think that's a great pity because I no longer have adequate software for many panoramas.

  • Compared to Autopano Pro, PT Gui Pro too often has problems with correct blending and anti-ghosting (>90% of my panoramas have been created with Autopano Pro so far, <10% - especially super wide-angle - with PT Gui Pro).
  • Panoramastudio 4 from Thsoft is better at blending than PT Gui Pro, but sometimes distorts unattractively.

Are there any ideas here in the forum on how to get Autopano Pro up and running again?
