Nothing by Leica is based on a gimmick, a fad.

There is no point to a half frame digital camera. I can see a point in half frame film cameras.

Most Leica's live a long time. I can see thousands of these Fuji XHF-1 ending up in charity shops and landfill once people get bored with the fad and frustrated with the compromises.

No, because the limited editions are not fad camera platforms, they are limited editions of existing full featured cameras aimed at the collector market.

I would NOT criticise Fuji for offering a Safari X100VI or Ralph Lauren XT5. People aren't going to get bored by the limitations and dump then in a year's time.

Sure, let's talk about jokes like the Leica Lux App, where with only 80€ per year you can have "The brilliance of the optics, the magic of the bokeh, the power of the colours. The software engine designed in-house simulates the characteristics of iconic Leica lenses with unprecedented precision. These include the Noctilux-M 50 f/1.2, Summilux-M 28 f/1.4 and Summilux-M 35 f/1.4. With new lenses constantly being added, those with a passion for experimentation will know no limits."

If this is not a gimmick, I don't know what is.

here's another one, looks cool

50MP 1/1.56-inch CMOS sensor with a fixed 24mm f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilization.

digital crop modes for 35mm, 50mm, and 60mm fields of view at reduced resolutions.

4K video at 30fps, 2.7K at 60fps, and Full HD at 120fps

The debate is not Leica vs Fuji.

You brought up signature editions of M and CL cameras as a 'fad' like the XH1 and I just pointed out they were cosmetic changes to mature systems that thousands of photographers were using. At least compare apples to apples.

Well, I bought one during a store discount. My Billingham for Leica bag contains the Q-P, a few batteries, a Niticore USB charger, and there was still enough room for the X half. It's a nice little camera for taking pictures and then printing them on an instax Link printer. I consider the X half to be an elevated instax Evo when used with an instax Link printer. I have the wide and mini 3 Link printers. Don't take it too seriously, but it's really small and fun to use. It's a bit like the Leica Sofort 2, also a fun device, with some film simulations but without a built-in printer and with better digital images.

Sure it is. Sure it cannot replace Noctilux and Summilux lenses, I guess nobody really imagines it.

Having that said, I really like Leica Lux app and the look it gives to my iphone photos. To begin with - I didn't even want to try it.
However, once I did - I use it almost exclusively on my phone...
