It doesn't often do this but when it does its quite spectacular. Seems to occur over quite a narrow angle with an intense light source in the image. Its happened only several times in the last decade though so not a huge problem unless you are really into contre jour images (in which case a fast lens is probably not such a good idea). Feel free to add examples and comments about them.

Quite nice, I will say (pending on the eyes that see, clearly). With a square image format, the flare bulb becomes an interesting decor to the healthy and flowering wild garlic or ramsons. Perhaps also interesting to convert the image to b&w. Sorry..., I divert, but flares can be fun!
