rogxwhit Posted April 24 Share #2 Posted April 24 (edited) Don't know whether I ought to guess that the plastic is ABS? If it is, here are some thoughts ... https://tinkerdifferent.com/threads/fixing-cracked-abs-plastic.387/ Acetone was mentioned. Also, I suspect that the solvent cement used for pvc plastic waste pipe fittings would do it, but don't quote me (yet). I'm pretty convinced that a solvent is what'll work, rather than any sort of 'glue', including Araldite etc. And a way of lightly clamping the parts in position whilst the bond sets. pedaes Posted April 24 Share #3 Posted April 24 (edited) If it still works and you have the missing piece I would glue it back with some black superglue. Get the thin type and run a tiny bit in the crack also. It will not look pretty. By pouch you mean soft pouch I guess. Really difficult to see how it would happen if it was in the Leica accessory leather box/pouch as that is very rigid and quite thick. In fact just looking at mine, I would say near impossible in any normal use. Edited April 24 by pedaes

Nope the leather pouch, and in the front pouch of a billingham bag too no idea how it could have happened tbh as I tend to baby kit, but expect it to also stand up to fair use edit - was pre owned, but didn’t spot any issues when it came. pedaes Posted April 24 Share #5 Posted April 24 38 minutes ago, mwktar said: no idea how it could have happened Just bad luck. There is no padding in the front Billingham pouches. The previous Viso was supplied with a nice protective stiff leather pouch and it is a shame it is a costly extra for this model. That pouches were supplied/are available suggests they need some protection from knocks
rogxwhit Posted April 24 Share #6 Posted April 24 I wouldn't trust a superglue for this - or indeed want to pollute the mating surfaces with anything that wasn't likely to work ...

It may be that it was already superglued when you bought it, hence the outcome now! Mine has been in the front of my bag for months without ill effect. I’m not sure what the alternative is. We have a 3-D printing lab in work so I’m going to see if they have anything that might do the trick.

rogxwhit Posted April 25 Share #10 Posted April 25 Fingers crossed! Function is far more important than elegance (& I don't think any repair was going to have that), so if it works ... 🙂
