Direct scanner attachments such as the Valoi Easy35 are easy and quick to use, however do NOT work well with wide lenses placed close to the film, as film flatness in the holder is not perfect. For slides flatness will similarly vary from mount to mount ( plastic / glass / carboard etc. ). Using a crop mode in the Q, and placing the lens further away from the slide would help but pixel count will obviously drop.

Consider another camera I have had good scanning results with 16...25 Mpixel m43 cameras and the inexpensive 30mm Lumix macro lens.

Put your lens at the closest focus in macro.  Put your slide on a white screen of an iPhone. Attempt to shoot this handheld.  Evaluate the quality, refine the setup or try alternatives.

The Valoi website lists the Q cameras as “not recommended” and suggests using lenses longer than 55mm on a full frame body.

Good idea, I'll try it. Thanks a lot.
