Whilst this is made for the CL, it could be made and applied to any flat fronted body.  The back ‘nub’ is quite small and just enough to rest the thumb on without getting in the way of the wheels. (A Japp member way)

Both are made from brass pieces. The front is made up of 4 soldered pieces

I have used a CL dedicated L grip (heavy) a Leica thumb grip (cumbersome) which gets in the way of the top wheels.
However, neither are fully good enough in ergonomics and are just a compromise.  Time for action to resolve.

The results are such a comfy way to use the camera, add to the gripping without hampering.

The front piece could be painted, taped up, or simulated black thin leather stuck on it. Undecided as yet. Yes, it requires the tools and skills, but you could carve from lightweight wood.

It is taped on simply for photos, as yet unfinished.

The result improves the handling 1000% over nothing, and what you can buy.  Fits my hand like a glove and removes any chance of RSI I am prone to.

Featherlight and how the camera should be moulded for the hand.  And lowers the shutter speed which can be used without losing sharpness at low speeds.

Try something, you’ll be amazed. Follow the simplicity.
