I have noticed that my Q3 makes a noise that to me sounds like a very small motor running whenever the camera is active.  When it sleeps (or turned off), the noise quits.  It is very faint - not audible unless the camera is literally right next to my ear.   The camera is set for single shot AF, not continuous and even if the camera is switched to manual focus, the sound continues if the camera is not sleeping.  Wondering what I'm hearing. ??  Seems like a motor constantly running would deplete the battery rather quickly.  Appreciate any info!!

Thanks, I thought of that initially and turned off stabilization but the sound continued.  I then did a search on "Q3 Image Stabilization" but the search produced unrelated results.  Seems odd to me that the image stabilization "motor" would run with stabilization turned off but if it's normal I will do as suggested and not listen!  :)

Enjoy your beautiful camera.
