Mikep996 Posted March 29 Share #1 Posted March 29 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have noticed that my Q3 makes a noise that to me sounds like a very small motor running whenever the camera is active. When it sleeps (or turned off), the noise quits. It is very faint - not audible unless the camera is literally right next to my ear. The camera is set for single shot AF, not continuous and even if the camera is switched to manual focus, the sound continues if the camera is not sleeping. Wondering what I'm hearing. ?? Seems like a motor constantly running would deplete the battery rather quickly. Appreciate any info!!
Advertisement Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Hi Mikep996, Take a look here Q3 (28) Operating (mechanical) noise?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JNK100 Posted March 29 Share #2 Posted March 29 As discussed a lot in this forum,it is the O.I.S. system. These best solution is not to hold the camera up to your ear 😉
Mikep996 Posted March 29 Author Share #3 Posted March 29 Thanks, I thought of that initially and turned off stabilization but the sound continued. I then did a search on "Q3 Image Stabilization" but the search produced unrelated results. Seems odd to me that the image stabilization "motor" would run with stabilization turned off but if it's normal I will do as suggested and not listen!
