Thanks for this update sebas_. I was going to send my M11P in but will no longer do that.

By the way this static theory makes sense to me because one time when I had it happen I just touched the screen with my fingers for a while and it resolved.

Update:  I am now having the same problem on my brand-new M-EV1, perhaps worse.  After an hour or so in cool weather (50 deg F) the center of the LCD screen dramatically darkens.  The EVF is unaffected.

Whatever the tech cause, this is just shoddy engineering…made worse by its repetition across models.

Thanks to everyone posting their experiences on here.  What I’ve learned from reading this thread:

- use a screen protector or film to help alleviate the issue with static buildup.
- if it occurs, wipe with an anti static cloth or solution.
- Leica absolutely should have mitigated this issue when designing and testing the M11-P, and now apparently the M-EV!?  Inexcusable on cameras in this price range.

oh, and…

- there are some hilarious Leica apologists on here.  “It’s normal behaviour for a LCD screen in 10°C”.  🤣🤣🤣🤣

A screen protector will have ZERO effect on this problem. (I have glass protectors on my M screens.). Static? 🤷🏼  I think that’s pure spit-balling.

I now have posted this same problem over on the M-EV1 forum.

Perhaps it’s related to the different construction of the black M11 and M-EV1?  Dunno.  What I DO know is that this reflects very poor engineering quality control from the most expensive camera brand on Earth.
