macos Posted January 7, 2008 Share #3 Posted January 7, 2008 I would propose you should contact Doug Herr, who is also member here. He has (or has had?) a restricted area on his page http://www.wildlightphoto.com/ where he discusses R lenses and their variations.
Photoskeptic Posted January 7, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted January 7, 2008 I've been in touch with Doug, but he mentioned nothing about his restricted pages (or, naturally how to access them). I've been only moderately successful with Google. I suppose I will go ahead with a 250 f4 purchase and cross my fingers it will do the job.

macos Posted January 7, 2008 Share #6 Posted January 7, 2008 ... I suppose I will go ahead with a 250 f4 purchase and cross my fingers it will do the job. Is it the old one with the small focussing ring or the new one? Once I had the old one and wouldn't say it is bad, but surely not up to date. But one could get it for a very reasonable price. The new one is several steps better, but quite expensive. I sold the old 250 again because I got the APO 3.4/180 which is a class for its own and the 250 does not add so much tele effect. For animals I would also prefer the 4.8/350 (Leica 350 mm f 4.8 lens Telyt-R, noob example see http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/tier-natur/30815-plantschen-am-mittag.html) Good luck Marcus

Photoskeptic Posted January 8, 2008 Author Share #10 Posted January 8, 2008 I do indeed! Thank you, Doug. Your reviews are most informative. May nothing unphotogenic clutter your viewfinder.
