Toraakunn Posted March 23 Share #1 Posted March 23 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys! I hope everyone is in a good health. I'm sorry to dump all of these right away, but first of all, beware it's a long read. I have a dilemma, after switching from Sony and fuji, I am now fixating on going back to Leica ecosystem. I first tried the real Leica back in 2015-16. It was my beautiful M240 with 50 cron. Sold it unfortunately, then fast forward to today, I've tried so many camera brands and models. All getting faster and relying more on a computer/chip/processor to do the jobs. Franky, now 10 years after trying out my first Leica, I'm done. I'm tired. The never ending specs wars and chasing "perfection". I wanna go back to Leica world! Considering my current budget, I have a dilemma choosing between these 3 options. 1. Leica q2 mono + Q1. the reason for mono is because I'm partially color blind, and I struggle many times to edit my photos in terms of color accuracy. I often have to ask my wife to finalize my color edit. I want to try to own a camera that's personally going to be less taxing for my eyes and brain, experiencing freedom from the pressure of color accuracy. So the usage will be, q2 for private enjoyment (walk alone at night for example) and night time, feeling artsy, while the Q1 will be used for standard family event (where there's a strong need for color). 2. Leica M240p + Q1. This option has simple reasoning. M240p for my private enjoyment in taking pictures, and Q1 is the autofocus for the faster necessity during family events. 3. Leica m10+ cheap fuji. This option isn't ideal because of the fuji (ideally it's Leica Q1), but that's how the budget permits. The reasoning for this option is the same as number 2. Leica m10 has been my dream camera since it launched, but to this day I'm still unconvinced the jump in cost compared to the m240. Anyway, stuffs that I do is mostly just daily carry, family events, and travel. Family events most of the time is indoor, so this could be the time I carry the Q1 for option 2. Both, for option 1. Finally m10 for option 3 with fuji as the backup. For travel, I'll carry 2 cameras whichever option it is. Now my worry for the option 1 is that, while I enjoy it, I'm sure my family won't. So I'll be alone in enjoying b&w. I maybe shouldn't be bothered, but sometimes.. It's nice to see if someone in your family can also appreciate your photo taking effort. With b&w, I'm sure that they won't/can't appreciate it. My worry for the option 2 is, the M240p. High iso indoor. This I'm unsure tbh. Also, maybe the feeling that I'm still stuck in 2015...? Like when I first tried it. Eventhough this will be the "P", and the very fact that now I have a wife and kids. Finally my worry for the option 3 is simply because I don't have another Leica to fall back on if I fail with the m10. I have to master it to make it my main camera. While the other option I will have an autofocus camera to fall back to, this option, I won't. The fuji will just be there as an emergency option, and I know I won't be happy if I have to whip out the fuji. Anyway.. I'm sorry for the long winded texts and reasonings. I appreciate you that read until the end. So, in the end, I'm asking for an insight, wisdom, comments, past experiences, and finally advice from those who are willing to share to me. I thank you again, and sorry for the "essay".
Advertisement Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Hi Toraakunn, Take a look here Q2M+Q1 type 116 or.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Dazzajl Posted March 23 Share #2 Posted March 23 Well firstly, that’s a nice dilemma to have. Just to be really helpful, can I throw another option onto the pile that might fit your wants too. An M246 and a Q2. If my fast maths are about right, the budget is in the neighbourhood of option 1? You get a 240p with no colour worries and a lovely Q for those autofocus and family shot needs.
