I'm buying a quality polarising filter for my Q3 43 and need a hood to go with it.

I noticed that B+W also do a rubber lens hood (49mm).  Has anybody fitted the Leica thread protection ring and used a filter + hood, both 49mm?

Is there a downside?  I do use the original supplied hood with a thin B+W UV for protection with is great when that's all that is needed. The stock lens hood also fits a larger external thread rather than my suggested 49mm internal thread.

Just wondering if anybody has tried this approach. Most discussion seems to focus on LARGER hoods.

Thanks, Sean

If I do go for an external screw fit hood, it would need to be one that lets me add and adjust a filter without being removed.

I tried the Haoge hood and it just lets you use Macro with a UV filter. Not sure it would even work for a polariser. I certainly wouldn't be able to adjust it. Anyway, it wasn't for me, not enough room. I suppose the circular filters might.

Haoge and JJC offer round hoods that allow both changing filters and turning the polarizer without removing the hood.  I have used one from another source for several years.  I use a snap-on lens cap when not taking photos.
