XV battery latch just broke, Leica US will no longer send the part

So after ten good years my battery latch finally broke. The camera still operates thankfully, but I did query Leica USA about getting a replacement part that I could install myself. I figured that as recent as 2021 someone got a replacement from Leica they could sell me one. Below is the response. Disappointed for sure. 
 

“Hello, I am the Parts Coordinator for Leica USA. Sadly the X-Vario is no longer a model we offer repair services for and parts such as the battery latch/door are not parts we sell to end users or other repair houses directly. If this issue is affecting the performance of your unit you may be eligible for our upgrade program. I can have a member of our Customer Care team reach out to you if you'd like to pursue that option. Thank you!”
