I have an iPad Pro M4 and it works well with Leica Fotos but there are times I would like to be using a MacBook Air. As far as I can tell there is no wireless connecting software available.

Is this true?

I really do netlike the idea of removing card and using a reader or even cable although a cable might be acceptable as a last resort.

Any suggestions?

You're going to have a better time with the cable, unfortunately.

Leica FOTOS seems to be the only way at the moment to be able to get images from your camera wirelessly, and they don't offer it for macOS.

I just checked Cascable, and it doesn't support Leica yet either.

Hopefully someone else knows something I don't and can help out.

Cable suggestion:
Use Image Capture app - the one macOS uses for scanners. It works great with any camera over a cable. I set it to import to a local directory, so I can edit them without adding them to Photos right away.

Leica does not have a MAC- WIN option to do wireless.

until recently they didn't make any open-source software available. the market is small anyway and not too many programmers see the incentive to make something for leica.

With my M11 I take RAW/jpg combo.  When I tether to my Mac Studio to download, whether using Image Capture or Photos, my RAW file and JPG download as 2 separate images thumb nails.   When I import via the SD card a single image thumbnail downloads in Photos, but not Image Capture, where 2 thumb nails still download.  In Photos I can then choose to open the RAW or the JPG (same for editing in Photomator/Pixelmator Pro, which I use and love).   Also, only using the SD card import process can I have Photos delete all photos off card automatically after import, which is an efficient process.  This auto delete is not possible with Image Capture   I know there is much discussion about formatting cards with every use, but I have never had an SD card issue just using this delete feature.  Every few months I may format my card for the heck of it if I think about it.  In summary, for me, I found downloading via cable to Mac through Photos a much less efficient process than downloading via SD card.

Maybe my process works best for me because I edit and manage photos with Mac optimized software vs LR?

Yes. It is currently true.

One workaround if you don't want to use SD card or cable connection is to use macOS/ iPadOS Airdrop to "wirelessly" transfer photos from your iPad to your MackBook Air.

Other programs can move the files, it is the same as copy and delete.

It is actually just creating an index file on the card to mark what to overnight.

The Mac OS, the programs, and the cameras all create hidden files that stay on the card, ever SD or SSD chip run software in the background.

Formatting the cards is important!
