Photos from an afternoon stroll through the streets and parks of Belgrade, from Tasmajdan Park and the Orthodox Church of St. Mark through Knez Mihajlova Street, we ended up at Kalamegdan Fortress. All images are taken with SL2 and 35mm Apo. For me, this is a nice combo for street. The only thing I regret a bit is that I had my L-bracket mounted because I left my key in another bag…

Sunny but chilly winter day, we finished our day with lunch at an old traditional restaurant with live music…

Opening this series with a couple enjoying the view from Kalamegdan Fortress where the Sava river is flowing into the Great Danube

You had some cloudless periods there which is great as the light in Belgrade, when it's like that and particularly when captured in the Zemun area is stunning.  And conversely, when the light's not like that, dark and dingy, I found it to be just as if not more atmospheric.  Going to Belgrade just makes one want to see all of the Balkans.

Monument of Gratitude to France, 1930.

This monument was unveiled 12 years after the finishing of the First World War, by the famous Croatian sculptor Mestrovic and his associates. Mestrovic’s work is well worth exploring. The female figure was cast in bronze in Zagreb, Croatia, and assembled in situ. The pedestal with two engravings, Warrior and Sorbonne, is also made in Split, Croatia, from Brac “marble,“ the same material that was used for the White House in Washington.

You can find this pyramid with details like gravity acceleration, latitude, and longitude that is passing through Belgrade on the Knez Mihailova street. Love details like this…

Sculpture in front of our hotel for this weekend. Inside, we treated ourselves to hot chocolate.
Until next time, Belgrade

Yes, some really high clouds just to add a bit of texture to the sky, also there are some scenes that works a bit better in color but I wanted this series in BW….
We were not prepared for the low temperatures, though :) Next time I will probably allow a bit more hours to explore, especially the Kalamegdan area…
