Hello,

I installed a 7 artisans close-up ring on my Leica SL2-S. And it doesn't work. Do you have any ideas?

The screen remains black, except for the usual indications at the top and bottom, which I also see in the viewfinder. But... no image! Surprisingly, the aperture indicator reacts to the movement of the ring. So the camera detects something but doesn't send back an image!

I tried every possible position, read and reread the interior menus for adjustments to be made... But nothing.

I consulted a well-known French website. I can't get a satisfactory answer. Matt Osborne in a YouTube video finds this ring satisfactory on a CL...

Would this ring simply not be suitable for an SL2-S, for reasons that remain a mystery to me?
Thank you.

Cameras like Canon EF requires electronic communications between the lens and the camera. I believe Leica S, SL, are the same.
Apparently your extension tube does not have the proper electronic communications.

Thanks.

It has no electronic communication, but 7artisans presents it as a adapted ring to Leica L. I use my Jupiter 8, with a K&M adapter also with no electronics, and it works well.

Moreover, I read good things about the Light Lens Lab close focus ring. Maybe i will buy this one.

I asked 7artisans why it doesn't work, I am answering the answer.

Have a nice day.

How does all this SL stuff wind up on the wrong forum? Is the S such a red herring that most users are ignorant of the difference?

Show me the right place, please. I don’t see it when I open the site. And eat a candy.

Ok. L- mount. I didn’t pay attention. Why call this part L-Mount after calling all the other parts by camera system ? Sorry. I take a candy.

It's not you. Just that lately a lot of SL topics seem to end up in the S forum.

I don't think it's unusual for a member like me, who doesn't visit the forum very often, to find himself lost when he reads the section headings. I don't come here very often and I haven't even remembered having previoulsy posted in the right forum before. If the posts are sometimes misdirected, perhaps you should talk to the managers and ask “please open a Leica SL section” below Leica S. And let's all share the candy pack !

Have a nice evening.
