Brick Posted February 13 Share #1 Posted February 13 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would like to have a backup battery for my D-Lux 8. In a text chat with someone from B&H I asked what the difference was, because specs certainly didn't reveal any. I was told "fit and finish." Is the "(space) 15" battery $20 prettier? Is there some other difference to be concerned about? I have been "burned" by a battery before, so it's always a concern. Any replies will be appreciated! -Brick
Advertisement Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Hi Brick, Take a look here leica BP-DC15 ($120) vs. BP-DC 15 ($140) battery. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Brick Posted February 14 Author Share #2 Posted February 14 I did get a further reply from B&H that included this from Leica: Here is the reply from our Leica rep: "Same battery but the newer one has worldwide certification meaning it can be sold in any country whereas the older one doesn’t have as broad of a certification. Selling in North America is perfectly fine. We have a limited number left so I would assume you and we will be out of “older” version within a couple of months. This is why your selling price is lower than the newer version." I guess "prettier" is in the eye of the beholder. I went for the cheaper battery. -Brick
