WarrenInOntario Posted February 13 Share #1 Posted February 13 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am entertaining the purchase of a new Q3 43 and moving away from Nikon. Once the warranty expires what are my options for service? Leica US advises that I can courier to them but I don’t see that as a viable option particularly with a trade war looming. Thoughts? We are one of Western Canada's largest photo dealers...what they have told you is accurate. There is no Canadian Leica service depot or warehouse at this time. There are no repair shops in Canada that are currently able to service current digital Leica products. Only other option would be to send it Germany,
WarrenInOntario Posted February 13 Author Share #3 Posted February 13 Thanks Bobtodrick. Think I will put the new Leica purchase on hold until there is service availability closer to home.

I wouldn't worry about what could or could not happen in the next few years with a Q3. They are very reliable and could always be sent to Wetzlar in the unlikely event there is an issue. We’ve sold a fair number of Leica’s…in the last 5 years we’ve had one M10 Monochrom that had to be sent back for service. Apart from worldwide supply issues service out of Leica NJ has been very good.
WarrenInOntario Posted February 13 Author Share #6 Posted February 13 Thanks for your input folks. As much as I want a Q3, think I'll sit this out. Clearly Leica needs to step up to the plate in Canada. Especially now with a trade war looming with our American friends.
