PhotoCruiser Posted February 8 Share #1 Posted February 8 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) I start a new tread as the other one is misleading So i bought a SL2, Sigma 105mm Macro ART and a Godox X3 flash trigger and two TT685II C flashes to do some macro. The SL2, the X3 and the two TT685II have the recent firmware, so this problem can be excluded. Basically the X3 and TT685II C work nice together and setup was easy but i am not able to make the system work in TTL what was desired and the reason i bought that system. Strobes work fine and reliable in manual mode, no problems with this mode, but TTL is badly underexposed as shown in the photos below. One problem is that TTL does not set the correct exposure and/or strobe power is set too low and other problem is that AutoISO does not work when the strobes are powered up. For my underwater photography is usually used Manual mode on the camera to control depth and fast shutter speeds as a diver is never floating still and autoISO took care of correct exposure depending on the subjects. And that way worked in 90% almost perfectly, but it does not on the SL2, not does it in A, S, P mode either. However, on my SL2 and the Godox setup this does not work and the only way to have acceptable underexposed photos is to rise strobe correction to +3 on the SL2 and on the X3 to +3 too. But AutoISO is set to A100 by default, but even in the most underexposed photos iso is always steady at 100 iso and does not rise. Not sure if this is a Leica thingy to disable AutoISO if a flash is attached or if there is a problem with my Godox setup. Has anyone here the same Godox setup and can confirm that TTL work on his SL2, or using the Leica Trigger and a Leica flash and TTL and/or AutoISO works flawless? Advertisement Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Hi PhotoCruiser, Take a look here Godox X3 and TT685II on SL2 - TTL not working, AutoISO neither. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JohnathanLovm Posted February 8 Share #2 Posted February 8 1. Do not use auto-ISO 2. From what I understand and experience, there is certain older Godox flashes doesn’t fully support TTL for Leica such as AD600BM. But have you try with lower f/ number? F/22 is a bit too much no? PhotoCruiser Posted February 8 Author Share #3 Posted February 8 Thanks Jonathan! Using auto Iso is a underwater photographer habit and of less use on land where the camera can be held steady. If it works as it did on my other cameras then it's a nice tool to speed up pushing the trigger, if it works what it does not on my setup. However, TTL does not work in S, A or P mode either, only in M mode I am sure i tried also F/16 for example and same, heavy underexposed if EV is set to zero, but will conduct another test to be 100% sure. f/22 is sometimes needed in macro to get the whole object in focus My TT685II are the latest version of the TT685 and have still no firmware update available, but i don't exclud that a more expensive Godox works better. I bought this ones as they fit my needs and from what i was reading they should work with Leica in Manual and TTL, but that may be wrong so i ask if soemone here has the same and can confirm. PhotoCruiser Posted February 11 Author Share #4 Posted February 11 So i got a email from Godox Customer Support writing: Zitat Our technical team mentioned that the TT685IIC does not support X3L, whereas the V1/V100/V1PRO/V860IIIC models are all compatible. This is likely the reason why you are unable to use TTL. That explain why i can't make TTL work with the above combination, so for anyone who consider buying the X3-L and Godox flash that he need to buy a more expensive model of flash. Very disappointing!
