PhotoCruiser Posted February 3 Share #1 Posted February 3 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Forgive my ignorance, but i never used a flash on my Q2, but many on my other cameras. So i bought and received one Godox X3-L and two Godox TT685II C to have a working wireless TTL system Manual exposure works quite reliable but TTL does not work at all as macro photos with two TT685II around 20cm away are totally underexposed. From underwater photography i am used to shoot in A mode to control depth and exposure get regulated by ISO. Auto ISO works in manual, but not in A, S or P mode what may be a error by me or a quirk by Leica. However, thats one of my problems, but as many wrote to update the flashes i tried that as flasjes show firmware 1.2 and newest one is 3.4. So i downloaded and installed G_3 for Mac what seems had worked but discovered that G_3 require a .bin file but the firmware for the TT685II is a .fri file, so no update possible. Then i discovered that i need to use G_1 version for .fri files but it's only Windows, so i installed it on my old Lenovo but the installation of some drivers crash and do not install. I still can open G_1 but its horrible small and i chinese, but has only 3 buttons so i figured it out and could load the .fri file but then get a red error that the flash is not found. Anyone here who could explain me how to update the TT685II on a Macbook with latest Sonoma? I wrote also to Godox help, but no reply till now. Advertisement Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Hi PhotoCruiser, Take a look here Godox Firmware Update for TT685II C possible???. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Photoworks Posted February 3 Share #2 Posted February 3 1 hour ago, PhotoCruiser said: Godox TT685II this flash is too new to have an update. if it is G1 you are looking at, it is probably many years old firmware not for your flash. Did you set the minimum distance on the trigger? Did you set the camera flash Mode to ON?
PhotoCruiser Posted February 3 Author Share #3 Posted February 3 (edited) Hi PW, thanks, yes i realised that the firmware i tried to load was for the TT685-C and not for my TT685II-C and there is no more recent firmware than 1.2 i have, my fault... Yes minimum distance is set to 0-30 meter on flashes and trigger Trigger is set to Legacy hotshoe, but same problem if Legacy Hotshoe is off X3 is set to TTL +3 and photo is almost black Flashes are set amber in RX mode ETTL Yes Leica is set to flash always Leica is set to AutoISO 100 Both flashes are firing normally and if i close to below f/10 i can have correct exposure or at f/2.8 overexposure. Auto-Iso works as supposed when trigger and flashes are in M mode There is a German videos showing TTL working more or less on a M10 but with the older XPRO II transmitter, also a english Video using a Q2, the X3 and a V100 flash and it works well. I have my flash set to +0.7EV in TTL and a bit more when using a reflector to get the flash look. I have no problem on the SL3, X3-L, flash V1 Pro for Olympus
PhotoCruiser Posted February 3 Author Share #5 Posted February 3 vor 8 Minuten schrieb Photoworks: this should be off if you are trying to use TTL Yes, i understand that, but tried both and there is no difference. i set the X3 to +3EV to see if that helps, but it does not and clear the photo only a tiny bit over 0 EV Hmm, i think i need to get hold of a V1 or V100 to do a test to exclude that the problem are my TT685II working with the X3. Would you mind writing me your settings and in what mode you shoot? Sorry for that, but i don't understand why it's not working and also why Auto ISO does not raise ISO for a correct exposure. PhotoCruiser Posted February 15 Author Share #9 Posted February 15 Just a short update regarding the X3-L and the Godox TT685II As Godox confirmed me that TTL does not work with the above combination i pulled the trigger and bought two V1 flashes and BINGO: TTL does work as supposed! Here the original email from Godox: Our technical team mentioned that the TT685IIC does not support X3L, whereas the V1/V100/V1PRO/V860IIIC models are all compatible. This is likely the reason why you are unable to use TTL. Not sure if Godox will make same day a firmware update to include communication with the XProII and X-3 triggers for Leica so the cheapest and smallest solution in this moment is their V860III strobe.
