It totally depends on what type of photographer you are but travelling with an unfamiliar focal length from time to time works for me. Whether it be wider or tighter, it makes you see the world differently from normal and your pictures will reflect that, keeps things interesting. On a personal note though, in general, I much prefer the wide to normal range of 24-40 for my general photography and I’ve come back from a couple of trips recently and found the Q3 (28) to be the perfect one camera solution. I take a film camera with me as I enjoy the medium but not to plug a focal length gap. Lugging around big gear is a big no no for me on general travel. Unless there is a specific use case (wildlife, astro etc)

For leisure trips these days I am finding a Q3 43 and a film camera with one lens (28, 35 or 50) is a happy combination. Together they fit in a small bag with a single partition (Fogg b minor for me), with spare film and battery in the front pocket. In a hotter weather I might take a larger bag with space for a water bottle. The film camera would be a M or Barnack.

This was exactly my setup for a recent trip to Morocco. Q3 43 and Bessa R2A with the Nokton 35mm II. I thought I was going to miss something on the wider end, but I didn't.
