Einst_Stein Posted January 27 Share #1 Posted January 27 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The hand strap comes with Dlux 8 is not secure, too loose. ALso far from thief proof. A slight Distraction can take it away. I found some hand strap that can somewhat make it tighter on the wrist, but the rope is very thick. My wife wants something thinner and more elegant. Any recommendation, particularly for women? Edited January 27 by Einst_Stein

JCF Posted January 27 Share #2 Posted January 27 i'm also interested learning about alternatives. i use the one in the box. i wanted to use a Peak Design cuff, but the anchor loop wouldn't pass through the eyelet. I've tried the floss method and i fear i will shear the eyelet off if i force it further. 🫢
prymsnap Posted January 27 Share #3 Posted January 27 I'm using this one with my D-Lux 8 and am very happy with it. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/221925-REG/OP_TECH_USA_1801021_Cam_Strap_QD_Black.html I've used OpTech straps for many years and find them sturdy, comfortable and reliable.
Einst_Stein Posted January 27 Author Share #4 Posted January 27 (edited) I guess the key is the extra "tighten loop" that can more secure the strap on the wrist. But the buckle might be the weak link. It can be easily unbuckled. I searched hand straps that have tight loops, found this. Haven't tried yet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/404239875720?_skw=camerw+hand+strap&itmmeta=01JJMGYYD4APP69PZ6TY38K6GB&hash=item5e1e92fe88:g:flEAAOSwbfZkL7Fq&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKkdeYD9VwWCxzWRxxO7p3ZBn4tdGx4uHrJ4O0Y9pBFHLX6x3T%2F5n8OyBmsRkHkfCwaN9KyVy7e%2B5YmezPC4%2B%2BpbAnuCIyr7RDktTQ5a%2FRu9oefHvAGPy37%2BIM7YAA%2B7TBgO1rD1ZlokHHZzuUGqZxMtvKaXH%2BtqfuhqibjEQt0TAtfAfwwMqI7V421H%2FzfleHXt0iaSwQapqjOC0dd9%2BvDykDSTvweiM5ObcugO1nHToQ0hwMRzboEPvoXii%2FTOgViX%2BtK9BDXEftjMZo22iCX0aZAtFEPPcWzt5%2Bb7nrdc5Q%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR5Do-5CVZQ Edited January 27 by Einst_Stein
prymsnap Posted January 27 Share #5 Posted January 27 Actually, the OpTech does have a slider that allows you to tighten the loop. As for the connection buckle, I've never had one unbuckle accidentally. But if you're uncomfortable with any sort of buckle, the one in your link looks like a good choice.

I have never the problem of accidentally unbuckle it by myself. But I found my backpack has been frequently intentionally unbuckled by someone else. I found the buckle very useful on backpack for carrying cameras, though neck straps with some risks.

But they provide another type of attachment that works very well, and this strap is perfect with the DL8
Einst_Stein Posted January 29 Author Share #8 Posted January 29 I found the security or thief-proof of this little thing has been ignored by most vendors, regardless how pricy. I ordered the little ones with tight loop, found it is much better than the Leica original, but it need some enhancement, I ordered a little metal tube to protect the thin loop at the camera end and a spring type metal tube just about the right size to protect the rest of the thicker loop up to the tighten loop. Both are meant to make it harder to cut by knife. Will see how they work once received.
