M This is absolutely right. Help clarify, please (Sorry for confusion): is the original poster asking about 3rd-party flanges to convert M-mount without 6bit to M-mount 6 bit? Or flanges to convert LTM to M-mount, with pits for 6 bit conversion as well? In either case, I'd advise simply and completely staying away from 3rd-party flanges of any kind, period, full stop. The only way to find if such a flange "works" is to try it on your M body. Yet there's so much potential variance between samples, even from the same maker, and definitely from possible sources that go to the same seller, that I wouldn't and couldn't ever count on reports from others that a flange from a particular 3rd-party seller "worked" for them. There's a sickening feeling when you try such a flange or adapter on a camera and then feel it start to bind and grind in the mount on your body. I know, because I've felt it. The potential savings over other ways to solve a particular problem are just not worth it. If you absolutely need a 6 bit encoded version of a lens that you already own, my honest suggestion would be to sell the lens you own and repurchase it with OEM Leitz 6 bit encoding already on the lens. If you ever purchase a lens purporting to have been factory-converted, go very, very, very gently the first time you try to mount it on your camera body, and stop the instant at which it's not as easy and smooth to mount as a genuine Leitz lens should be. Then contact the seller and ask what the heck is up... Really, the third-party conversion flanges and LTM to M-mount adapters are fraught with hazard. I mean, it's your camera body. But please consider....

I have the template for coding, but so far have not had consistent results, thus the desire to just get the flange. I guess I will send it in at some point… The 3rd party flange is to replace the flang on the original lens. It has an area for the 6-bit coding. The very old ones (10 years ago) is flat, the ink coding is not durable at all. The new ones should have the 6-bit coding area in a "well". Make sure to find the right flag type for your lens. It should have the screw location match your lens. I no longer have lenses need to do the6-bit coding, but according to my friend's experices (in the recent years), a right one works pretty good. No thickness proboem at all. But the problem can be the ink you use for the coding. Make sure it would not be the source of dusts to enter you camera. Edited January 25 by Einst_Stein
Knightspirit Posted January 25 Author Share #23  Posted January 25 I have one coming - had to have a friend order it for me since EBay wouldn’t let me order it.
Knightspirit Posted February 4 Author Share #24  Posted February 4 (edited) I got the new flange today for my 50mm Summicron and it fit perfectly, and the 6 Bit-code was already on it. The lens mounts and unmounts perfectly - not too tight - and the code read correctly. I can recommend this, and I’ll be ordering another for a 90mm Elmarit. I got mine from the only US seller - photographer_in_mask on EBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/293636207322?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=1PhEM6R4S6-&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=4xg3AYSyTZW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Edited February 4 by Knightspirit
Knightspirit Posted February 15 Author Share #25  Posted February 15 (edited) Just got two more of these today - and again - perfect fit. Here's the interesting part. I asked about getting something for my Zeiss 18mm F4 - and he suggested that one of the flanges for Voigtlander might work. Not only was it a perfect fit - there were additional holes in the flange which lined up perfectly with "hidden" holes that were underneath the original flange, that fit the Leica screws perfectly. So I was able to put back the original Zeiss screws and fill the remaining holes with Leica screws that were left over from the other two flanges that I replaced. Sadly - I am short one more screw to complete all of the holes - but 6 is plenty! Here's a pic: Welcome, dear visitor! One more note - he had to use a 50mm flange so those are the lines that come up, although it reads 18mm in the camera as far as the coding. It's a live view lens anyway so not a bother...
