norm_snyder Posted January 18 Share #1 Posted January 18 Advertisement (gone after registration) I picked up a D-Lux 8 for times when I am not planning to shoot photos and don't want to carry one of my M cameras or Q2M. I have encountered SD card error message with some older, smaller capacity cards, asking me whether I want to format the card, but can't accomplish this in camera with older Sandisk Extreme 90 MB/s SDHC cards. Has anyone else encountered this? No problem with later Sandisk Extreme 170 or 200 MB/s cards. This is not a major issue, but as I had the older cards, and files for D-Lux are smaller than the Q2M or M10M, I thought I might be able to use these. BradS Posted January 19 Share #2 Posted January 19 Did you check the position of the write lock slider ? Can you format the old card in a computer or in some other device?
norm_snyder Posted January 19 Author Share #3 Posted January 19 I tried formatting on the computer. The lock slider is in the correct position and these cards work in both M10M and Q2M. The error message asks me if I want to format, but the camera controls don't respond. If I put in a newer SDHC 200 MB/s SanDisk card, there is no problem, so I thought perhaps there is a speed minimum that the camera will tolerate. It would seem a strange requirement but, I guess there could be. Anyway, it doesn't seem to matter as the newer cards work fine.
