ccss Posted January 14 Share #1 Posted January 14 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I have used Leica M10 with 35 summilux v2. I planned to go to Lofoten and Tromso on the next month. I'm concerning about using it in the cold weather and how the lens can handle the cold weather? Thanks
Advertisement Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hi ccss, Take a look here Using Leica M10+35 summilux v2 in Norway.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted January 14 Share #2 Posted January 14 No need to worry. I was in Tromso in the winter 10 years ago and the camera (M240) and lenses were all just fine. The temp at night watching and photographing the aurora was about -10C. Just take some spare batteries and keep them in your pocket to keep them warm. Swap them out if the one in the camera struggles with the cold. When you get back into the warm, leave everything to warm up slowly.
nilsen Posted January 14 Share #3 Posted January 14 I haven't used that particular lens in Norway, but none of my Leica lenses have ever had a problem in the cold.

I just concerned about the lens due to the lens age and thank you so much for the suggestion Edited January 14 by ccss

Vanillasludge Posted January 14 Share #6 Posted January 14 When I lived in North Dakota I used my Leicas in -27f weather. The action gets a bit stiff but otherwise no issues.
