ljclark Posted March 18 Share #6 Posted March 18 When I had a pair of Leica M6s, I replaced the red dots with black dots (I got them from DAG). I did the same thing with my M8 and M9, and also took a wooden toothpick to the white paint filling the big "M8" and "M9".
PhotoCruiser Posted March 18 Share #7 Posted March 18 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a friend who put black gaffer tape on all writings on his M10, looked horrible but he felt safer. There are several ways of thinking regarding camera theft and i believe that a normal street thief don't know the cost of a camera before he (try to) steal it and find the value later when stolen. There will be thief somewhere around who know the value of a Leica (like as a photographer) but one must also encounter him in the right moment. The first thing to do for safety is to conceal the camera and use it only to take photos as in front of the belly dangling cameras are a invitation, second thing in higher risk areas is to be in two with one walking a few steps behind acting as "bodyguard". However, if i would need that then i probably would choose a Nikon FE/Canon AE1 or similar vintage Film cameras from other brands as Pentax, Olympus skin.
