Advertisement Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Hi Genoweffa, Take a look here What is you typical (most commonly used) exposure setting (metering) on Q (28) cameras?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Le Chef Posted January 3 Share #2 Posted January 3 Highlight center weighted, for landscape. Spot metering for street. For street with strong light and shadows, sometimes multi-field.

luetz Posted January 3 Share #4 Posted January 3 Mostly "Spot" as I normally prefer to use AE-L...
RQ44 Posted January 4 Share #5 Posted January 4 (edited) Irrespective of metering, regardless of what setting you have, if you are adjusting the exposure compensation dial you now negate the need for the setting anyway. I could never understand why the setting still exists. Adjusting with exposure compensation makes the metering pointless. I could be in highlight metering mode and the scene may be too dark and so I adjust to make image brighter. Is it still based on highlight metering anymore? I agree with bobtodrick. You decide on the exposure, not the camera. Edited January 4 by RQ44

Using the dial makes you get it right every time.
luetz Posted January 5 Share #9 Posted January 5 Metering in "Spot Mode" to the "Highlight" using AE-L and then recomposing has served me well over the years. I always set my cameras to -1/3 exposure compensation regardless. This setup seems to give me more "keepers"without extensive post processing, but each to his own.......
