This is the seller that attempted to buy a third for in the 4k range. That should tell you something. Overall pricing is interesting nonetheless, and I will be keeping an eye on any further ads, as I am sure many of us do. Foterna is way overpriced, and says of several items it has two in stock with the same description of usage. Sounded fake to me, so I skipped him when buying sth else.

m-d262 Posted January 14 Author Share #110 Posted January 14 MD officially in hand and, oh boy, it feels amazing. In my test shots, I noticed, the dng file preview on my machine (windows 10) is very small, 160x120px. Is this normal? The files load up full size, as expected, in LRC and the resulting jpg files are sized appropriately.

Datsch Posted January 14 Share #117 Posted January 14 (edited) 1 hour ago, m-d262 said: 160x120px. Is this normal Yes this is normal. The embedded jpg within the DNG file is tiny. My one criticism of the M-D! Unfortunately many programs use the embedded jpg thumbnail when you browse or flick through images, and this means the images will be tiny or very blurry if upscaled. So you need an image browser that can quickly show raw files, like the aptly-named Fast Raw Viewer for Mac and Windows, or Raw Power for iOS. Or you can simply use your normal program to batch process your DNGs into jpgs ‘blind’, using a basic profile (go and have dinner while it’s churning away) and then come back and skim through the fulls sized jpgs to check for sharpness etc and make your final crops and colour tweaks on the jpgs, or go back to the RAWs for critical editing. Datsch Posted January 14 Share #119 Posted January 14 I have just tested Photos on ipad as the newest versions of this program keep getting better and better and I see that it has no problem displaying M-D raw files full screen with plenty of detail and sharpness. So either it can handle pure raw images very quickly (M4 processor!) or it has managed to find another size of embedded jpg (I know M11 raws have several sizes of embedded jpg for example).

This does appear to be a windows issue. I just sent the same dng to my ipad and it displays as seemingly full size. As long as its windows and not me, I am fine with it. 1
