Cogito Posted December 28, 2024 Share #5 Posted December 28, 2024 imho, if you don’t use wifi/bluetooth while shooting, but only turn it on briefly to download photos, you can pretty much shoot all day on a single battery. I thought for sure I’d get a second battery, but glad I saved the money. If you need to geotag your photos and keep a constant wireless connection to your phone, two batteries might not be enough. the wireless connection to the camera also runs down my phone battery 2x as fast as normal.
2slo Posted December 28, 2024 Share #6 Posted December 28, 2024 Do the batteries and charger from the Q2M work with the Q3 43? I'm asking as I own the Q2M and I'm thinking of purchasing a Q3 43.
Cogito Posted December 28, 2024 Share #7 Posted December 28, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Batteries are the same physical size and are compatible, but Q3 batteries have more power, 2200 mAh vs 1860. As far as I know, the only thing the Q2M batteries can’t do on the Q3 43 is run it in 8k video mode, (something I can’t ever imagine doing.)
Le Chef Posted December 28, 2024 Share #8 Posted December 28, 2024 I bought a spare battery for my Q2 and kept it when I bought a Q3. It works as a backup if needed. I have BT and WiFi switched off and never use them. I also never use AFC or iAF, and have the camera go to sleep after 5 minutes of doing nothing. The battery lasts all day without any issues. Recharge it in camera using the cable.
Olaf_ZG Posted December 28, 2024 Share #9 Posted December 28, 2024 Comparing to the purchase price of the Q, a spare aint that much. I bought one while buying the Q. Recently I bought a second hand one. I rather have too many batteries than too little…

Le Chef Posted December 28, 2024 Share #11 Posted December 28, 2024 I carry an utterly reliable Nitecore charger on away trips so I can charge both batteries, one in camera and the other on the Nitecore.

My Q3 ( bought Feb. 2024) came with the BC-SCL4 Battery Charger and the 2200 mAh BP-SCL6 battery. I believe the Q2 came with the same charger (at least the Q2M listing at B+H says it comes with the BC-SCL4 charger). The BC-SCL4 charger works for the BP-SCL6 battery. The Q3 43 comes with the same 2200 mAh BP-SCL6 battery (but no charger and I think newer Q3's do not have a charger in the box either).

Thanks, yes, my UK spec Q2M has the BC-SCL4 charger and good to know that will charge both versions of the battery.
bjmike Posted January 16 Share #14 Posted January 16 I use the SLC4 battery (3rd party vendor, non-Leica) that is the cheaper but compatible battery to the Leica BP-SCL4 Battery Q2 Leica battery. It works perfectly for everything except 8K video. Since I don’t do video, 8K incompatibility is irrelevant to me. Since it’s a bit less powerful than the Q3’s BP-SCL6, you’ll get a bit less run time. Between USB charging in-camera and a functional backup battery, I have what I need for my purposes (primarily landscape, travel & macro).

Correct, my Q3 dated as of 12/09/2024 did not include the charger for the battery.
