Wwin Posted November 17, 2024 Share #1 Posted November 17, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, i’m testing the Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f2 ii type 1 lens and i noticed a clicking sound when i focus between 0,5 - 0,6 m. i tested the lens also on my Fujifilm camera with adapter and then that sound is gone….also when i focus the lens without any camera attached that sound is gone What made that sound when it is attached at my M10-R? What’s the reason?

Siriusone59 Posted November 17, 2024 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2024 If I remember correctly the M10's mechanical rangefinder is limited to .7m close focus. The lever with the roller would be fully extended at that point. While the lens will optically focus down to .5m the cam is no longer in contact with the roller and probably makes the sound you hear. At that close distance it's probably a good idea to use live view for focusing. I don't have the lens you're testing but my camera does make a tiny click if I gently push the roller in just a few mm then let it out completely.
Fred Miranda Posted November 17, 2024 Share #3 Posted November 17, 2024 That very subtle 'click' is the sound of the roller disengaging from the lens, which happens at 0.62m with the M10 series. I’ve noticed it too, and it’s a helpful reminder that beyond this point, Live View is required. I’ve posted about this before, but not many folks noticed. I’m glad you did; I thought I was the only one!

Thanks for your response! i thought something like this could be a reason, i never used a lens that can focus closer that 0.7m on my Leica 😉
