M11 BP based on M11 chipset. 64 gb internal, gorilla glass, etc. etc. Blackpaint is now accessible for everyone. do you have a source for the BP over aluminium? If I want that lens style I just go with voightlaender and have more money left to spare and nearly the same quality. I am very disappointed, and just informed my dealer I don't want either the camera or the lens anymore

Wonzo Posted November 21, 2024 Share #89 Posted November 21, 2024 Very disappointing to hear, that the glossy variant is based on the M11, not on the M11-P. The technical data on the website don't even mention the weight, neither of the camera nor of the 1,2 Noctilux, which will definitely be much heavier than their black anodized counterparts due to their brass bodies. Currently I'm overthinking my intention of buying both items.

MP3 Posted November 21, 2024 Share #91 Posted November 21, 2024 I am really disappointed Leica releases this pair as just a design variant, not limited or special edition as they did in the past for BPs. What is the point to collect these design variant if they could produce and sell as much as they could ? The price of the classic Noctllux black anodised re-issue has been suffering notable price drop over the past few years. I have no choice, but to cancel my order. As for the BP 50 1.2 Noctilux, on Leica's website it states "based on standard model", which I see to mean the standard alloy body. Plus with price increase over the standard black anodized lens being quite small I can't imagine the black paint 50 1.2 is a brass body.

And while it may lack the heft of brass, the finish still looks amazing, especially with the feet scale in red instead of the standard orange.” The M11 BP itself is BP over brass, but not the lens. 3

The camera has a brass body, the lens is made of aluminium, just like the standard version. It's quite confusing, because I had read somewhere, that glossy black paint doesn't work very well with aluminium. So why did Leica choose brass for the camera body?
