Art in public spaces characterises the image of the city. Anyone who lives in Hamburg (Germany) will have seen the works of art, most of which are located in beautiful or central places in the city. You walk past them again and again, see them, but don't notice them. You associate them with the city, but when asked about them, you only have a vague picture in mind.

Otto von Bismarck, Hugo Lederer
Location: Hamburg in the old Elbpark
Info: Together with the pedestal, the controversial monument has a height of 34.3 metres. The statue alone is 14.8 metres high. The monument is controversial because, on the one hand, Bismarck was instrumental in promoting German unification in the 19th century and was regarded as the founder of the welfare state and, on the other, as a representative of an authoritarian and anti-democratic policy. In any case, his monument has now survived for more than 100 years and watches over the city menacingly as an iron chancellor.
