AKR1971 Posted October 31, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 31, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Leica Community! I’d like to get a Leicavit for my Leica IIIg, but in Ebay they are either horrible expensive or scrap. Some ideas where to get them alternatively? Thanks. Regards, Andreas

Anbaric Posted October 31, 2024 Share #3 Posted October 31, 2024 The SYOOM now typically costs more than most cameras it fits, sometimes even more than the IIIg. Dealers generally aren't cheaper than ebay, though you can sometimes find one sold together with a camera that effectively makes the Leicavit a bit cheaper. You might get lucky at a (non-ebay) auction or estate sale. Whether it's worth having one as anything other than a collector's item is another issue. The LTM cameras wind on quickly and easily enough for most purposes if they have been serviced, the cost of film these days tends to discourage rapid snapping, and the Leicavit doesn't exactly have a reputation for being incredibly robust. Note that there are some very expensive rare variants like the Einzel/Serie version that are mostly of interest to collectors.
