I have and quite love the Q3... On the downside there is a rather biggie dust-something sitting fairly centred on the sensor, so I plan to send the camera to Wetzlar for a cleaning. Lightroom is quite clever to remove the region with dust, but I prefer having a decently clean sensor.

Anyone with recent experience sending a Q-body to Wetzlar for cleaning - what is the typical time Wetzlar needs for CLA of Q-bodies these days?

The Leica store in London will do this in a day or so I understand if you are ever in London.

You would need to book it in online and I think the charge is £200 including replacing the leatherette.

I hope you get it sorted ok.

Jeff

Thanks! The repair time is as expected/feared. Not a first world problem, clearly: But I don’t like to think about months without the Q3… I may end by purchasing a used Q or Q2 (or monochrome) and sell it without too much loss when the Q3 is back.

Interesting to hear about the London service! I don’t think we have that option here in Norway (will check). And no plans to vist London…

For a few hundred (insert appropriate currency here) and a two to three month time saving, I would be inclined to take a short flight to London and hang around while they do the service for you. They might even loan you another Q for the day while you’re there.

If it were me I would 'invent' a reason to get to London as I would not like to be without my Q3 for so long.

Thanks! Yes, London is certainly a city to visit… But since I don’t travel by air (with a few exceptions due to my job), getting to/from London becomes quite an endaevour…
