Tony,

I have some sympathy with your comments, however, there would certainly have been a couple of fatalities in the Jaguar races at Oulton last week-end if they had relied upon the safety equipment available "in your day".

Until fairly recently the guys in classic racing mostly drove within their capabilities, now there seems to be a Volvo-safe-syndrome where they feel invulnerable encased in fire-proof suits with F1 helmets, roll cages, air-ambulance on hand etc. Maybe it is the semi-pro drivers with something to prove who have polluted this branch of the sport?

I'm not sure what the answer is but I know that it is NOT to allow a replica racing syndrome to take over, as advocted by Max Moseley and the FIA, this will lead to vintage stock car racing spectacles. :(

Cheers,

Pete.
