After updating my iPhone 15 Pro Max to iOS 18.0.1 I was not able to connect to my Q3 wirelessly. I updated my iPhone the day 18.0.1 became available but just discovered the FOTOS connection problem 2 days ago.

I reported it to Leica via the FOTOS app and they responded the next day. I worked with the FOTOS App Support Team and provided the details. After my iPhone iOS update to 18.0.1, it will not connect to my Q3 wirelessly. I am running the current version of the FOTOS app and the current Q3 firmware. When trying to connect to the Q3, my iPhone ‘sees’ the Q3 but cannot connect and the attempt fails.

After deleting everything, pulling the battery in the Q3, restarting the iPhone, etc. and starting over it resulted in the same results. I was able to connect using the USB-C cable and operate/option the Q3 using FOTOS. Interesting in that the FOTOS app on my iPhone works fine wirelessly with my M11 and M11M.

Today I received email that they forwarded this issue to the FOTOS developers and provided me a ticket number.

I also have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, which I updated to iOS 18.0.1, and since this update, my Photos app no longer works properly. I can’t download photos from my M11-P. I uninstalled the app, and now I can’t even add a camera back to the app! I informed customer support by sending the information via email through the app. Now, all we can do is wait for a fix to arrive.

Here is an update and the closure of the FOTOS & iPhone problem I reported.

Thanks to the Leica FOTOS Development Team, they found the cause of my problem. When you launch the FOTOS app on your phone to connect to your camera, you 'Swipe down to connect' at the arrow cursor. The Leica Gallery photos box drops down and exposes your camera name (or list of camera names) and the camera serial number . Tap the camera name to connect to it via the FOTOS app. My Q3 was displaying my WiFi SSID and password rather than the camera name and serial number (Leica Q3 - XXXXXXX where the X's are the camera serial number). I had to delete the Q3 from FOTOS on my phone. I also had to go to my Q3 and delete my WiFi SSID and password in the FOTOS tab. I still do not know how the SSID and password were entered. Or at least I do not remember doing it. Then I added my Q3 just like it was a new camera in FOTOS on my iPhone. But I had to connect via cable (USB-C) for FOTOS to recognize my Q3. FOTOS then recognized my Q3 (name and serial number). The FOTOS wireless connection now works fine via BT. It was a complicated problem and solution since the FOTOS connection problem was discovered just after I updated my iPhone to iOS 18.0.1.

In a related note, Apple recently released iOS version 18.1. I updated my iPhone and the FOTOS wireless connection still works fine.
