dbane883 Posted October 9, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just picked up my Q3 43 and I ordered the Haoge square lens hood on Amazon. I’ve seen a hack where someone used blue painters tape. But my fear is that the tape will leave a residue. So I decided to use plumbers Teflon tape. I took about 8 inches of tape and twisted it by rolling with my fingers to create a thin strand of Teflon tape. I’m using a Breakthrough X4UV filter. I carefully wound the Teflon strand around the threads on the lens ensuring it overlaps in a clockwise fashion if you are staring straight on at the lens. i then carefully attached the lens hood and after 3 turns it became very stiff to turn I kept going until there was a tiny gap and the haoge logo was on the bottom macro works perfectly now and this hood isn’t going anywhere I’m sure there will be a proper threaded hood at some point, but until then , this will have to do I’m coming from M-P type 240 which I regret not protecting as the body got a few scratches So I installed a 3M skin on this unit. Still waiting for thumb grip to arrive to compete the mods. Welcome, dear visitor! Yes. pretty easy for me at least. Im used to working with small parts as I repair/service my own Rolex watches as a hobby. but fairly straight forward. until there is a proper Leica hood fix, I will experiment with various rubber 0-rings so that i can easily take the hood on or off when i need to change filters.
Likaleica Posted October 10, 2024 Share #5 Posted October 10, 2024 My OEM hood works with the B+W 010 UV-Haze MRC nano filter, but not in macro mode.
