My only 2 years Voigtlander F2 APO lens has some kind of crystal formation on the inner element so I opened it up to clean. The disassembly was easy, i managed to reach the element and cleaned it. However.... I got stuck at this part. I just can't put this 2 part together no matter what i tried, clockwise, anti clockwise turning, tried all sorts of angle...you named it. I can't believe I wasted 2 hours keep turning these parts hoping they can screw to each other but ended up chips flying here and there. The male and female threads are there but they just don't mate for god's sake! I checked clearly too there is no blockage that prevents the screw locking mechanism. Really really frustrated at a point I almost want to trash it forget about the existence of this lens. Anyone here can enlighten me? *This will be my last piece of Voigtlander gear. I owned many lens and this is the first lens that gave me inner elements contamination after it left drybox for a week. Left piece : Focusing barrel - lower barrel (rear) Right piece : Aperture barrel - upper barrel (front) There are a few lens elements and small metal parts not in the picture. Ecar Posted October 6, 2024 Share #2 Posted October 6, 2024 I don't own this particular lens. However, many lenses have multiple helicoid thread starting points - but only one will work. Unless you mark it upon disassembly (seems like you didn't...), it's a game of patience. At this point, if you haven't ruined the threads by trying to force them (chips flying?), perhaps send it to a technician?
microCuts Posted October 6, 2024 Author Share #3 Posted October 6, 2024 They dont even rotate..so I dont think the 'wear' is enough to ruin the threads. Thank you for your tips too. I will try again slowly later.
