AnnieP Posted October 6, 2024 Share #1 Â Posted October 6, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) For the most part the GPS writes to the file correctly. However, I am still having problems. If I take several images in the same location, invariably the first image (sometimes the second as well) does not show the correct location. If this is the case, the incorrect GPS is usually the previous location. Subsequent files show the correct location. On rare occasions, all files are correct. My Leica FOTOS settings are set to: Location, always; Photos, full access; Bluetooth, Cellular Data, and Local Network, on. Any ideas as to what might be causing this rather peculiar behavior? Correcting the files is time consuming, to say the least! Many thanks for any input.

Ken Abrahams Posted October 6, 2024 Share #2  Posted October 6, 2024 Hi Annie, sorry I cant really help with any suggestion for your situation however I can say that the Fotos/SL3 can be a bit "nervous' to begin with. Any problems such as random disconnecting and or joining wifi for my system have eventually come good. After a while the SL3 seemed to just work, fixed itself by persisting. The glitches with the SL2S were on going so I trusted that "always on" was selected in Fotos menu (and the iPhone connectivity "always") was selected as you stated. The random disconnections eventually went away. Every now and again I will get a message from Apple saying that SL3/SL2s location services has been accessed 131 times or some such amount but I continued without closing down. Sometimes the message on the iPhone stated that the connection will shut down and that to restart the gps "to start camera again". It seemed a bit like AI function going on in the background and after my consistent choice of settings I have both cameras connected all the time and showing accurate data even when both cameras are being used at the same time. I often take two cameras with different lenses out on photo walks and was surprised to see that both worked flawlessly with GPS. Now the test will be to see if three cameras can maintain connections at the same time by trying the M10M. Image showing a recent jaunt in Fremantle with one of the cameras data. The second camera meta data is obviously unique to its own connection and files.    Welcome, dear visitor! AnnieP Posted October 6, 2024 Author Share #4  Posted October 6, 2024 Thank you very much for the detailed info. I previously had the Q2 and could never get the GPS to work well; I finally just gave up. So, compared to that, I am quite pleased with the SL3 results I am getting, except I want it to be 100%. The other day I was out and thought it had disconnected and when I got back found that it had actually recorded the GPS data. I think, like you said, maybe it's just time and practice. So long as it doesn't look like I'm doing anything "wrong," I'll just keep working with it and see if it finally corrects. Thanks again for the input. Appreciate it.
Photoworks Posted October 7, 2024 Share #5  Posted October 7, 2024 That sounds like normal behavior ‘the phone does not allow more GPS ping to moderate battery consumption ‘the only setting to look still to check is allow location access: always.  And precise location:on

Thanks again for the input. Appreciate it. With the latest firmware I find geolocation is working very well with my Q2. When I turn the camera on it usually takes ~ 20 -30 seconds for the location icon to confirm geolocation is synced. Remember to leave the LeicsFOTOS app running on the iPhone and set location services to always.
