Sophotogenic Posted October 3, 2024 Share #1 Posted October 3, 2024 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi folks first post here - hope you are all well. Apologies if this workaround has been published before. We all know the subject detection on the Leica Q system is pretty bad if there are multiple people in the frame. Was using my Leica Q3 43 today at a wedding using the crop function, and realised that the subject detection only works in the cropped area. The closer the crop the smaller the subject detection area so after some experimenting I was able to keep whoever I wanted in focus just by following their face around with the cropped area. I imported the photos into LR I had to reset the crop of course but I thought it worked pretty well - definitely better than loads of yellow/green boxes flitting around the screen! Again, apologies if this has been thought of before.
Advertisement Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Hi Sophotogenic, Take a look here Subject Detection Workaround using crop mode. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
LocalHero1953 Posted October 3, 2024 Share #2 Posted October 3, 2024 (edited) Yes, this works for all focusing modes and exposure: AF and metering are confined to the cropped area. A far more valuable function of the framing tool than for cropping IMO. Edit: welcome to the forum by the way!
