I'm not on the M11D firmware beta group.

I realise this is futile, first as we'll never agree and second as it will probably never change! However;

I've had my M11D for a bit now on top of my M11M and M11P. I've used it for landscape, portrait and a bit of street.

It strikes me that having the thumbwheel available to set the time is a waste of one of the few non phone interactions one has. I realise that's because I have a phone but a tiny, tiny percentage of people don't have a phone compared to the number who'll use the camera and do have a phone.

1. Personally I would rather than the long thumb press allowed in the longer term the selection of a user profile, this allows tweaking across the board 'offline' and then simple selection on the phone, it avoids users fighting about what should or shouldn't be changeable on camera. Downside is there is a significant development time associated and risk of breaking something

2. Quicker stopgap (/alternative) is put motor drive (my preference) on long thumb press to allow move between silent and audible shutter on the go instead of setting the clock.

3. When using the camera for street in variable light it's useful to be able to fix aperture and shutter speed and use ISO to maintain exposure manually. However when one moves the dial/thumbwheel on M mode the ISO is displayed for 1s followed by exposure, this is the most impractical and slow way to set this up. I care much more about the exposure and very little about the final ISO, so I'd suggest updating the exposure triangles and dot in real time and only flashing up the ISO for 1s after an inactive pause of 1s. The current setup makes even less sense when using the rear wheel to set ISO as the ISO is marked on the dial anyway. I want to take a picture, not know what the ISO number is in the RF it's written down in front of me!

I should add that I realise that some/many will never wish to change anything in camera, for me it's only shutter. However, on the basis that we already have a control which is allocated a function I'm hoping for a discussion about what function would be best!

I've actually suggested something very similar to 1 in another comment as well, it feels like the change that makes the most sense to me. But definitely big impact and because of that feels very unlikely to happen.

2 I personally don't have a need for and 3 I can understand where you are coming from.. but no strong preference about this from my side

Given how few own and will own an M11-D, they should invite all registered M11-D owners to firmware beta testing.

i agree with that @hdmesa - not joking !  i have for example two little firmware related observations to report, minor bugs - not even on a FOTOS level, but purely from using the m11d as is for the last 4-5 days, minor things or annoyances to straighten out in a next FM version.
